Safer Internet Day

Posted by bronwynr on February 6, 2009

Safer Internet Day http://www.saferinternet.org/ww/en/pub/insafe/sid.htm is an annual international event which aims to raise awareness about safe and responsible use of new technologies—especially among children and young people. Organised by Insafe http://www.saferinternet.org/ww/en/pub/insafe/index.htm , the European internet safety network, Safer Internet Day will take place on Tuesday 10 February 2009. The event will concentrate on two themes: social networking and cyberbullying.

ACMA has organised a number of activities in which interested schools may participate:

Libraries can access the Cybersmart materials for public libraries. These include: Cybersmart Guide for Library Staff,  Cybersmart Guide for Families, a poster, and four internet safety information videos that cover a range of issues relevant to library staff. Copies of these were delivered to all libraries in mid 2008, and extra copies are available to order gratis from the ACMA website. To access the materials, visit: http://www.acma.gov.au/libraries
